Jupiter Waxing Semi-square Pluto (March 27, 2009)

Jupiter in Aquarius will make only one waxing semi-square to Pluto in Capricorn. This occurs on March 27, with Jupiter at the 19th degree of Aquarius and Pluto located at the 4th degree of Capricorn.  The waxing semi-square aspect by definition marks the shift from the New phase to the Crescent phase within any cycle. The Jupiter/Pluto planetary pairing, as any, describes an evolutionary cycle of becoming. Therefore, as Jupiter correlates to personal belief structures of which we are conscious and Pluto to unconscious emotional security patterning in general, this waxing semi-square aspect can find us becoming suddenly aware of deeply rooted reasons for why we believe anything at all.

This waxing semi-square aspect, then, is an opportunity to utilize the inherent energetic shift from Yang to Yin–from outward expressions to inner reflections, such that we inherently manifestly stabilize newly evolving beliefs within any given moment as it happens.  However, the pull from the past as symbolized by our old beliefs and evidenced by instinctively powerful emotional undercurrents, is so strong that we can be continually drawn back and inward. The ensuing reflective process can then serve to facilitate our internalizing a newer and deeper understanding of that taking place within our very Soul.  And that’s the point: for our conscious beliefs to genuinely reflect our actual Soul reality; for the manifest personality to increasingly unmask, de-mask the underlying Soul itself. Still, we may face disappointments within this process as old ideas seem to no longer ‘work’ - again and again we may be drawn inward to question why.  So, this can be a vulnerable time–and sometimes it’s easier to think other people know us better than we know our self, that they have all the answers we may seem to lack.  This is especially true with transiting Saturn in Virgo. Maybe it’s time: to trust our self - first this time.  The waxing semi-sextile Yang to Yin transition, then, animated via Jupiter/Pluto, conceptualizes and symbolizes an opportunity to shift from a manifest dependency upon seemingly outer sources of power to an inner knowing that true power emanates only and purely from within.

Jupiter in Aquarius can freeze up when insecurities are triggered.  It will take repeated intuitive messages about the future to help us figure out the new directions we need to embrace.  Pluto in Capricorn adds to the insecurities on deep emotional levels as old realities crumble.  It also creates lots of pressure to conform to societal and cultural standards of belief systems.  The waxing semi-square aspect draws us inward, seeking to find a new emotional equilibrium that keeps pace with the changes in our life.

This current Jupiter-Pluto cycle started with one conjunction on December 11, 2007 at 28/29 degrees Sagittarius.  This cycle will last until the next one is initiated with three Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions on April 4, June 29 and November 12, 2020 between 22-25 degrees Capricorn, just before the United States natal Pluto in Capricorn at 27/28 degrees.  Before this current cycle, the last one was initiated in Pluto’s domain of Scorpio.  This current Jupiter-Pluto cycle now emphasizes Jupiter’s theme in Sagittarius.  At the tale end of Sag there is hope we will learn some of the lessons around this archetype of evolving our belief systems, moving closer to natural spiritual principles.

There are over 13,000 religions and belief systems on the planet today: where is the common ground?  We can get caught up in the words, customs, and dogma–when it is important to recognize that the path to deeper philosophical understandings is a personal one.  Religion and spirituality can lend a helping hand, yet the relationship with Universal Source is a direct inner one-on-one connection of conversation and communion.  Right now, this Jupiter-Pluto waxing semi-square aspect creates pressure to let go of any old beliefs that no longer serve our soul’s evolution.

Some souls will resist this need to evolve and attempt to re-create the past and defend old beliefs.  This is where Jupiter in Aquarius gets paralyzed, unable to move forward.  Pluto in Capricorn demands conformity.  Past traumas could be triggered again, experienced again; a sense of victimization could set in.

Other souls will be in the midst of major meltdowns and traumas that find them questioning their beliefs on every level possible.  They may not know the answers, yet know without doubt they are frustrated - with the past, its confining beliefs…Why, why, why?  This can be a vulnerable time for these souls as they strive to create new foundations upon which to feel secure.  Usually, the outer world crumbles in order to strengthen their inner world.

Some souls will be breaking away from the past and discovering exciting new possibilities through broader understandings of philosophical spiritual principles.  It can feel vulnerable, yet there is awareness that old beliefs giving way to evolving new beliefs actually creates more depth of trust within self and a stronger connection to Universal Source energy.

Those souls who realize that natural spiritual principles have always existed, that it is our evolution of consciousness in recognizing these natural laws, may even experience peace in the midst of uncertain times.  We understand that cycles of expansion and contraction are natural.  Jupiter in Aquarius remembers to breathe and utilize our brain to intuitively think.  We detach and search for deeper answers.  While Pluto in Capricorn changes the material landscape in life-altering examples, there is a trust in the continuity of human consciousness expanding into new solutions.

This one Jupiter-Pluto waxing semi-square aspect is a focus point for sharpening our soul’s desires.  There is opportunity to recognize which desires we need to energize and which desires are ready to fade away.  We internalize these new desires and energize them into manifestation at the Jupiter-Pluto waxing sextile aspect – February 2, 2010 at 4/5 degrees Pisces-Capricorn – and the first quarter square aspects – July 24, 2010 and February 10, 2011 from 3-7 degrees Aries-Capricorn.

Pay attention to the crossroads in your belief structures from late March to early April.  As this contracting Pluto in Capricorn economy creates many new reality checks, our philosophical principles must expand to understand the lessons upon us.  We can create opportunities through all this.  Jupiter in Aquarius suggests individual and collective actions in recognizing and meeting the evolving needs of our culture over the next year.  We will be successful in society to the degree we are actively participating within it.  The collective laws we end up with, especially around monetary and fiscal policies, will only be as fair to us as we are willing to stand up and actively create.
