What is Evolutionary Astrology?

The language of astrology is as vast and multi-faceted as human consciousness itself. Evolutionary Astrology provides a map for understanding the Soul and its potential for evolution. Evolutionary Astrology is a term most popularized by the writings of Jeffrey Wolf Green. It is a philosophical outlook based in natural law and the expansion of human consciousness. EA embraces a paradigm, or body of knowledge, that can be understood through observation and correlation, which measures the growth or evolution of a Soul from life to life. The principle of reincarnation underlies Evolutionary Astrology.

Human consciousness evolves as it exhausts separating desires and expands in conscious ways to include, share and give back as the Soul re-connects with Universal energy; God/Goddess or All That Is. This process is no less than the discovery of the Soul – including emanations from past and present lives as well as all of our future potential. Evolutionary Astrology helps guide any Soul through this process, and includes a specific methodology that involves the planet Pluto and the Moon’s Nodes as representative of the Soul and its ego in any given birth chart.

Jeffrey Wolf Green received the EA methodology in dreams. The writings of Carl Jung, Dane Rudhyar and Paramhansa Yogananda were integral in his teachings. The Evolutionary Astrology Network shares the following quotes by these great philosophers.

Likewise, Jung’s four function types – intuition, sensation, thinking, and feeling – are roughly paralleled in astrology by the four elements – fire (spirit), earth (physical), air (mental), and water (emotional). Dane Rudhyar, a French astrologer who migrated to the United States, was widely considered the father of humanistic astrology. He further synergized the work of Jung into the astrological community. Both Jungian psychology and Dane Rudhyar’s concept of the cycle of phases and aspects are integral in Evolutionary Astrology studies.

Jeff Green reminded all of us to honor indigenous peoples who lived much more in tune with natural cycles prior to this modern era. One famous Lakota medicine man, Black Elk, received his vision not far from the home base of the Evolutionary Astrology Network in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Black Elk observed:
